What is a tower parking system?
It is a multi-level, elevator-based parking structure where a central lift moves vehicles vertically and a turntable or pallet places them in their slot. One tower can hold anywhere from 18 to 60 cars in a small footprint.
How many vehicles can a tower parking system hold?
Standard configurations park 18 to 40 vehicles. Larger systems go from 42 to 60. The final number depends on tower height, number of levels, and the mix of vehicle types being parked.
What power supply does a tower parking system need?
The main traction motor draws 30 kW for standard systems and 37 kW for larger ones. The system runs on AC 415V, 3-phase, 50 Hz supply. Lighting runs on AC 220V single phase. A stable, adequate power connection must be confirmed before installation.
How fast does the system park and retrieve vehicles?
The traction unit runs at 65 to 75 metres per minute for standard configurations and 90 to 120 metres per minute for larger systems. Pallet movement runs at 26 metres per minute. Most retrievals are completed in under 2 minutes.
How is the tower parking system controlled?
The system runs on PLC control with vector inverter speed management. Operation is via touch screen or computer — both options are available.
What safety features are built into the parking system?
Guide lamps at the entry point, guide mirrors, photo sensors for vehicle positioning, traction wire breakage detectors, cage and pallet overrun protection, and an emergency stop switch are all standard. The system will not operate if a vehicle is incorrectly positioned or if any sensor detects an anomaly.
How often does a tower parking system need maintenance?
Quarterly servicing is the minimum for systems in regular daily use. Maintenance covers the traction motors, wire ropes, pallet drive system, turntable mechanism, PLC control unit, sensors, safety devices, and structural components. Consistent servicing is what prevents unplanned downtime in a high-use facility.
Where does tower parking work best?
Anywhere land is limited but parking demand is high — apartment buildings, offices, malls, airports, transit hubs, and car rental facilities. If you need to park a large number of vehicles without using much ground space, a tower system is worth serious consideration.
